A soldier of the British 24th Regiment of Foot during the Zulu Wars was a Victorian-era infantryman serving the British Empire in southern Africa in 1879. Wearing the distinctive red tunic and white pith helmet, he was armed primarily with the Martini-Henry rifle, a powerful single-shot weapon. The 24th Foot fought in harsh terrain and extreme heat against the Zulu Kingdom’s disciplined warriors.
