The Grumman E-2 Hawkeye, a tactical Airborne Early Warning aircraft, took its first flight in 1960. Mostly used by the U.S. Navy, the E-2 offered surveillance and airborne early warning of enemy aircraft attacks. On October 1, 1968, VAW-125 was appointed as the “Torch Bearers” but was then changed to “Tiger Tails.” They became the very first east coast squadron to fly the E-2B Hawkeyes and was transferred to Carrier Air Wing Three (CVW-3) aboard USS Saratoga.
Adorned with special markings from VAW-125 “Tiger Tails,” is this 1/72 scale, Hobby Master, die cast model that replicates the E-2C Hawkeye. This aircraft includes notable features, such as an opening canopy that reveals a detailed cockpit interior, interchangeable extended/retracted landing gear, and a presentation stand. This aircraft is made of metal with some plastic parts and measures 10″ long and 13½” wide.
