The 481st TFS Crusaders reached Tan Son Nhut on June 21, 1965 and flew combat missions in South Vietnam. One of the 481st TFS F-100D was 56-3285, and it was flown by 1st Lt Peter Vanderhoef and 1st Lt Jerry Sloame. The aircraft was named “Pretty Penny” after Sloame’s wife. The F-100 Super Sabre took its first flight on May 25, 1953, and it served as a fighter-bomber during the Vietnam War.
With special markings from the USAF 481st TFS, this 1/72 scale, Hobby Master, die cast model replicates the F-100D as it was named “Pretty Penny” from Lt. Jerry Sloame during the Vietnam War. It includes hand-painted navigation lights, a detailed underside, a rocket, bombs, fuel tanks, an engine intake with near-razor sharp edges, realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels, surface details, landing gear, ordnance loads, opening canopies, a detailed cockpit interior, and a display stand. Measures 7¾” long and 6½” wide.
