Known as the first USN squadron to be deployed with the F-4 Phantom II, the VF-74 “Bedevilers” traded their Skyrays for the F4H-1 in 1961. After 20 years, VF-74 would operate three variants of the Phantom 13 times on Mediterranean cruises and twice to SEA. In 1981, the aircraft received a special paint scheme to commemorate 20 years as “First in Phantoms” squadron.
This 1/72 scale, die cast model is a Hobby Master hand-painted replica of an F-4 Phantom II, as it appeared on the 20th Anniversary of “First in Phantoms,” VF-74, Oceana NAS, 1981, features engraved panel lines, optional-position landing gear, optional armament, an opening canopy, authentic pad-printed markings, and a display stand. 9½” long.
