Operating as a bomber, fighter, and escort aircraft, the multi-role P-51 Mustang helped the Allies achieve air superiority over the Luftwaffe in the final years of World War II. More than 15,000 units of all variants were manufactured, and the iconic warbird saw service well beyond 1945 in various national militaries, including usage during the Korean War.
Among the many celebrated pilots to fly the Mustang was Captain J.W. Rogers. While serving with the 36th FBS in Korea, Rogers completed nearly 200 sorties &#8212 one of which resulted in a rare MiG-15 kill.
A Hobby Master reproduction of Rogers’ warplane (nicknamed “Buckeye Blitz VI”), this 1/48 scale, die cast model features his aircraft’s signature nose art, engraved panel lines, a rotating propeller, an opening canopy, a well-equipped cockpit (including instrument panel and a removable pilot figure), optional-position landing gear, full weapons complement, authentic markings, and a display stand.
