The McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) F/A-18 Hornet is a twin-engine, supersonic multirole combat aircraft designed for both fighter and attack missions. Developed in the 1970s for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, it is capable of operating from aircraft carriers and land bases alike.
