The F/A-18 took its first flight on November 18, 1978 and in 2004, the VF-103 “Jolly Rogers” retired the F-14Bs for the advanced F/A-18F Super Hornet. Best known as the aircraft of the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels, this supersonic aircraft was capable of fighter escort, fleet air defense and close air support.
To celebrate the squadron’s 75th anniversary (1943 – 2018), the tails are marked with a list of units that have been “Jolly Rogers” over the years. This 1/72 scale, Hobby Master, die cast model replicates a F/A-18F Super Hornet, and it includes an open canopy that shows a detailed cockpit, interchangeable extended and retracted landing gear, a presentation stand, and detachable ordnance loads. Measures 10″ long and 7½” wide.
