The battleship Haruna was the oldest of the five Kongo-class battleships that participated in the Pacific War, and was completed as the third ship of the class at the Kawasaki Shipyard in Kobe in 1915.
With a length of 222m and a width of 29.04m, it was equipped with eight 45-caliber 35.6-cm main guns, and after two refits, it was a battleship characterized by its high speed with a speed of 30.5kt. With the outbreak of the Pacific War, it participated in the southern invasion and accompanied the task force in the Indian Ocean operation.
During the battle of Guadalcanal, it participated in many operations that left their mark on its war history, such as bombarding the airfield together with the third ship, the Haruna. It participated in the Battle of Leyte Gulf (Operation Sho-Ichi-Go) in October 1944, but returned to the mainland, where it was heavily damaged in an air raid in July 1945 and sunk to the bottom, marking the end of the war.
