Six M8 HMCs were assigned to the American mechanized cavalry squadron. The armored division’s reconnaissance squadron “Assault Gun Troop” was equipped with eight M8 HMCs. Even though these units were assigned to assault operations, the M8 HMC was not considered an assault weapon. Instead, it was used for direct and/or indirect fire power supporting ground troops.
Designed with markings from the U.S. Army, this 1/72 scale, Hobby Master, die cast model replicates the M8 Howitzer Motor Carriage. It includes a rotating turret, an elevating cannon, an accurate hull, non-moving tracks, non-rotating wheels, realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels, surface details, and an acrylic display case. Measures 2¾” long with a 1¼” wingspan.
