In early 1945, 104-victory ace Lt. Gen. Adolph Galland was tasked with forming a new unit, JV 44, to fly the Messerschmitt Me 262 – the world’s first operational turbojet fighter – in a last-ditch effort to defend Germany and turn the tide of World War II. Originally conceived as a “pure fighter,” the design and concept of the Me 262 had been altered by Hitler (to the dismay of Galland and other aces) to become a fighter-bomber.
The seventh release in the Oxford Diecast series of 1/72 scale, die cast warplanes, this model replicates “White 3,” the famous Me 262A flown by Galland himself in 1945. It features textured surfaces, a detailed cockpit with a glazed canopy, realistic engine nacelles, authentic markings, and more. 6¾” wingspan; includes a display stand that identifies the plane and pilot.
