In need of a low-cost fighter to operate from Escort Carriers, the U.S. Navy created the F-5, which eventually transformed into the light, supersonic “Freedom Fighter” that served the U.S. Allies during the Cold War. The F-5 Tiger II also served for the U.S. allies, but it was compact and maneuverable, so it was also needed as a training and “aggressor” aircraft.
Painted in camo blue and featuring special markings from the 527th TFTAS (USAF), is this 1/72 scale, Hobby Master, die cast replica of a F-5E Tiger II. It comes with an open canopy that shows a detailed cockpit, interchangeable extended and retracted landing gear, a presentation stand, and detachable ordnance loads. Measures 7¾” long and 4½” wide.
