Designed for the Kettenkrad, the Sd.Kfz. 2 was originally intended for German airborne troops to fit inside the Ju-52 aircraft. This military vehicle has an incredible ability to tow 4 tons and was also used to tow light artillery and trailers, in addition to hold aviation fuel. When the Ramcke Fallschirmjager Brigade was sent to North Africa to help Rommel during the invasion of Malta they were left behind, but were able to escape. Loaded with water, fuel, food, and cigarettes from a captured British supply convoy, they headed west in order to find the rest of the DAK. Before surrendering, they fought in the battles of desert war in Tunisia.
This 1/48 scale, die cast model is a Hobby Master replica of a Sd.Kfz. 2 from the 1st Skijager-Brigade in Russia during winter of 1944, featuring accurate markings and paint scheme, rolling rubber wheels, durable heavy metal construction, and great attention to detail. It measures approximately 2½” long with a 1″ width.
