Serving the U.S. Navy for more than 30 years, the USS New York &#8212 commissioned in 1914 &#8212 was a lead-class battleship that participated in both World Wars. In 1918, she reinforced the Royal Navy in the North Sea and is thought to be the only American ship to have sunk a German U-Boat (doing so after an accidental collision in October). Then, in the Second World War, she served in both North Africa and the Pacific, receiving three Battle Stars. After 1945, the New York was used at the nuclear testing sites at Bikini Atoll, surviving the blasts and being studied for radiation effects thereafter.
This 1/700 scale plastic kit of the U.S. warship features a two-piece hull, a finely rendered wood deck pattern, plastic sprues, full weapons suite (including signature 14-inch guns), photo-etched parts, floatplanes, and a nameplate display stand.
