A Boeing-manufactured heavy bomber introduced in April of 1938, the B-17 Flying Fortress was chiefly operated by the USAAF in the European Theater during their strategic bombing campaign over Germany. Of the 1.5 million tons of weaponry dropped on Nazi-occupied territory during World War II, 640,000 came from B-17s. More than 12,000 units were manufactured and ten remain airworthy as of 2015.
Featuring authentic markings from the 11th or 43rd BGs stationed in the Pacific during World War II, this 1/72 scale kit of a B-17E &#8212 a centerpiece collectible measuring nearly a foot and a half in wingspan! &#8212 also comes with a well-equipped cockpit and bombardier compartment, detailed bomb bays with opening doors, optional bombs, separately molded superchargers, and a clear tail gunner compartment.
